Nasir Hossain Reacts to Court Acquittal
Bangladesh cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi have been acquitted in a widely discussed marriage-related case that had been ongoing for nearly five years.
The case had been filed by Tamima’s former husband, Rakib Hasan, who alleged that Tamima married Nasir before legally ending her previous marriage.
Background of the Case
The case dates back to 2021, shortly after Nasir and Tamima got married on February 14, Valentine’s Day. Rakib claimed that Tamima had not formally divorced him before marrying the former Bangladesh international, leading to legal proceedings against both Nasir and Tamima.
On Wednesday, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam of Dhaka delivered the verdict. The court found no evidence to support the allegations and acquitted both Nasir and Tamima of all charges.
Nasir Hossain’s Reaction
Following the verdict, Nasir expressed relief and said justice had finally been served after years of legal battles.
Taking to Facebook after the ruling, the cricketer shared his reaction and thanked the court for delivering what he described as a fair judgment based on facts and evidence. “Alhamdulillah, Allah did not let us lose. Finally, the truth has prevailed,” Nasir wrote. “I always had faith in the legal system. With full respect for the law, I would like to thank everyone involved for ensuring a fair judgment based only on accurate information and evidence.”
He also thanked the court for ignoring what he described as false allegations and fabricated stories throughout the case. “Many thanks to the court for establishing justice by giving priority to the truth while ignoring all kinds of false propaganda and made-up stories,” he added.
Conclusion
The verdict brings an end to a legal dispute that began shortly after Nasir and Tamima’s marriage in 2021. After nearly five years of court proceedings, the couple has now been cleared of all accusations.
