Australia Clinch T20I Series with Seven-Run Victory

Australia bowlers close out T20I series after Renshaw stars with 89*, as the visitors clinched the series with a seven-run victory in the second game of the three-match series in Chattogram. The win marked Australia’s first T20I series win in the country after they went down by 4-1 in 2021.

Star Performance from Matt Renshaw

Matt Renshaw turned in a star performance with his unbeaten 89, adding 97 for the fourth wicket with Tim David who struck a 26-ball 45. This partnership lifted Australia from a tricky position after they lost three wickets in the powerplay.

The skill of Nathan Ellis was on show in the closing stages, as Australia successfully defended their total. Bangladesh fought back with the ball after David’s big-hitting spree, with Nasum Ahmed the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 27.

Bangladesh’s Chase Falls Short

At 130 for 2 in the 13th over, Bangladesh had a chance to hunt down the target, but there was no repeat of the record-breaking chase in their last outing in Chattogram against New Zealand. In the end, Australia’s bowlers closed out the match, securing a seven-run victory and the series.

The final score read Australia 197 for 5 (Renshaw 89*, David 45) beat Bangladesh 189 for 6 (Saif 42).
