Southern Brave has firmly established itself as the team to beat in this year’s edition of The Hundred. By securing a five-wicket victory over London Spirit at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground, the Brave maintained their unblemished record, moving to five wins from five matches. This result not only keeps them at the summit of the table but also positions them as the clear favorites to secure the first spot in the competition final.
The Molineux Masterclass
At the heart of this victory was a tactical masterclass led by skipper Sophie Molineux. The Brave’s bowling attack once again demonstrated why it is widely regarded as the most formidable in the competition. Molineux herself delivered an extraordinary spell, finishing with figures of 3 for 7 from her 20 balls. These statistics represent the equal second most economical figures in the history of the tournament, trailing only her teammate Lauren Bell’s historic 4 for 6 against Welsh Fire.
Reflecting on the performance, Molineux noted the suitability of the surface for spin bowling. “The pitch had a little bit in it for the spinners,” she remarked. “I thought Tilly Corteen-Coleman bowled really well from that top end as well, and Sarah Glenn played a massive role in the middle overs doing what she does best.”

While the game saw a slight stutter toward the end—with both Bouchier and Molineux departing just one run away from the target—the Brave remained in control. Molineux’s dismissal, caught brilliantly by Deandra Dottin at midwicket, provided a moment of excitement, but it was too little, too late for the Spirit.
